Samiha Ayverdi (1905-1993) was a Turkish author and philosopher who wrote on a variety of topics, including Sufism, metaphysics, and Islamic history. She was known for her extensive research into Ottoman history and literature, and her works often drew upon traditional Islamic thought and mysticism.
Ayverdi was born into a distinguished family in Istanbul and received a traditional Islamic education from her father, who was a renowned scholar and Sufi teacher. She later studied philosophy, literature, and history at the University of Istanbul.
Her literary career began in the 1940s, and included numerous novels, essays, and studies of Islamic mysticism. Some of her most well-known works include "Islamic Mysticism: Sufism," "The Essence of Islam," and "Unveiling the Secrets of Sufism." She was also the author of several biographies of notable figures from Ottoman history and literature.
